Google's Sketchup is a downloadable. Please use Sketchup on the Macs in the Computer Lab (not on the Mac laptops). The latest version is on the lab Macs and they have the speed to operate the latest version of Sketchup to its optimum capability.
Please work through as many of these training videos, http://sketchup.google.com/training/videos/new_to_gsu.html, as you find useful. Watch one or two, then try out what you have learned using Sketchup. Then, when you can do that (or recognize what the video is talking about) using Sketchup, watch a couple more training videos and try out what you have learned. Repeat this cycle for 45 minutes or so, then see if you have enough concepts "under your belt" to develop a simple drawing.
There also are 20 tutorials in the Podcasts area under the iPod button of the iPads, titled "Sketchup: a 3D Toolbox."
